Can You Dig It ? Thrillin' Rare Grooves From Jazz To Soul 'N' Brazil To Boogaloo (2007)

We can definitely dig it, especially since the music on the set is all pretty darn groovy! The package is one of the best in the Brown Sugar series of compilations, and it's got a really tight sort of approach, a mixture of shortish tracks in jazz, Latin, soul, and funk styles, spun out as a really extended collection, one that changes sounds quickly from track to track as the excitement builds! The Pulp Fusion series makes a funky move towards the dancefloor, shifting from its earlier blend of older funk and jazz tunes into a more club-styled set that features some wonderful boogie groovers! The grooves here are often very open and rhythmically progressive, not your usual mainstream funk, although some of the cuts are certainly by familiar artists and more in the mode of the looser rhythms and complicated changes that were sometimes ignored back in the day, but which have come to be classics many generations later!
